In the video, it seems that the built environment knowledge is of utmost importance to the resident living in a city. Favelas in Rio, Brazil, Rocinha shows how significant is the planning of the city is. Its collision buildings were built by the local builders and master planners but not involving the government, it is the reason why densest favela in Latin America. Rocinha has all the problems such as sanitation, access to quality housing, and narrow streets where polices can't go, drug traffickers, settled in Rocinha. The government there don't involve in the city planning, which causes the local architects to need to decide to build their own houses as Ricardo did in the video. He built the house for his family, stairs, supermarkets and even flats.

Built environments provide us sufficient space:

We as humans, it is too need to have spaces to live in, and also staying healthy while spending time with our precious one. Hence, no doubt that wide spaces allow people to move around more freely and enjoying their life better. They may have a good quality of life if spaces are big enough for them. Residents have the opportunity to design and form a greenery garden between the buildings. They can also get inspiration to form the art and beauty of the place. In Rocinha, all narrow streets contain a lot of trash that threw by the neighbourhood. It seems that they didn't take well care of their environments.

Built environments let the environment look neat and clean:
It is significant for us to know the requirements we need to build a city. A good sense of organization will change the look of a city. It may look neat and clean if the city is well-organized comparing to a city that is lack organization, it will relatively looking at packs and chaotic in a way. Someone who visited the place may feel uncomfortable and unrelieved as the condition of the environment is worse. Meanwhile, a good formation of infrastructure will also change one's life in the area they live in. Without finding ways to improve it, our future cities will struggle to survive.

Built environment make a healthy place to live in.

The built environment includes all of the physical parts of where we live and work. The built environment influences a person’s level of physical activity. For example, inaccessible or nonexistent sidewalks and bicycle or walking paths contribute to sedentary habits. These habits lead to poor health outcomes such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer.  Unlike in Rocinha, all the sewage goes through the centre of the favelas. All the houses throw water, sewage, soapy water, fatty water into one canal, which then goes out to the beach in Sao Conrado. The government neglected it and didn't take action to treat them, that's why people get spots on their skin. This shows how a proper and clean sewage system needs to be considered in the built environment.
